Town Taxi
Need a Boston Cab company?617-782-5555 Town Taxi
Around the time that I first registered this domain I wrote the following about Town Taxi Boston.
Town Taxi was the oldest approved Boston Taxi Cab dispatch association in Boston until in late 2009 the Boston Police Hackney carriage unit ordered Town Taxi Boston to cease operations within the borders of the city of Boston.
Unfortunately the owner of Town Taxi Boston seemed to be one step ahead of the Boston police hackney carriage unit and had already formed Town Taxi Brookline. Brookline is a neighboring town that is almost entirely surrounded by the city of Boston yet is somehow a separate town in a completely different county.
We are told here at Bostoncab.org that the company kept it`s old Boston Cab phone number and now answers it at their Brookline Town Taxi office which oddly is within the city limits of Boston. This confusing jurisdictional crisis has lead several Boston customers to falsely believe that Town Taxi is still an approved Boston cab Company.
If you are interested in using their services please contact them directly at Town Taxi “Boston” to make arrangements. You should know that since this company is not licensed by the city of Boston they may charge the higher Brookline Cab rate or if they send you a livery vehicle they can charge you whatever rate Town Taxi wants to.
Recently i came to realize the Mr. Tafreshi the owner of Town Taxi Boston seemed to have the right idea about the future of the Boston Taxi industry and went to him for a job at Town Taxi Boston. After initially hiring me and giving me a time to come in for orientation at Town Taxi Mr. Tafreshi wrote to me rescinding his offer. Below is the communication from Mr. Tafreshi the owner of Town Taxi Boston rescinding his offer and my reply to him.
Letter from Mr. Tafreshi of Town Taxi Boston rescinding his offer of employment
Mr. carter-
As you are aware Town Taxi has been in battle with Capt. Ciccolo & Mark
Cohen of Boston Hackney Dept. who had tried to put my company out of
business for their personal vandactive motives and in support of their
buddies, such as John Ford. The battle is on going in Suffolk Superior
Court, where Town Taxi currently awaiting a Summery Judgement against BPD.
I have paid quite a price to keep my company strong & stronger. Only I
Know what kind of low life John Ford is. Remeber I took town taxi over in
2001 after John Ford Screw John Byden for every penny to run him out of
partnership. He is like a piece of shit who hides behind rocks.
In 2009 when I refer to Ciccolo’s Facebook page I was entertain to notice
that at a time he was the head of the Hackney, and while he was busting
his ass to put me out of business, he had a link and only one link to a
unknown taxi company in S. Boston and with a few click to an outfit in
Revere, perhaps his buddy John Ford. The S. Boston Cab I Believe may have
been your connection.
At this time Town Taxi & Zone Ride are moving ahead in harmony and I have
overcome all kinds of bais and misprints in medias such as Hackney
Carraige News & etc. for years. Now we are focus to take over the Boston
Market for customers who CALL for a ride. Majority of Taxi Drivers prefer
Hailed passengers. Majority of radio association, especially trash such as
Top Cab, only collect dues with no interest in service to drivers or
callers.
Based on the above facts, I have come to conclude that you are too closely
associated with the Devil John Ford & other foes making you too polarizing
to be part of my team. Therefore, at this time I have to decline working
with you.
Regards, Darya~

My response back to Mr. Tafreshi owner of Town Taxi Boston
Mr. Tafreshi,
I am saddened to hear your decision and I can not say I understand why you would feel the way that you do.
You are correct that I have my own websites and try to promote a phone business of my own. I believe I outlined this to you in the very first email I sent to you some 2 weeks ago and I was even honest with you that although I had an existing deal with Mr. Ford where he pays me for the calls I have now I would consider making a deal with you at some later point if it benefited me? I can tell you that I would have promoted as hard for you at Town Taxi Boston as I had for Mr. Ford..perhaps even harder as Mr. Ford is unable to provide me with a vehicle to drive.
You are correct that while he was captain I tried to force my opinion on Capt. Ciccolo at every opportunity I could. By calling him. Emailing him and yes even on his facebook page. I am sad to say I don’t think anything I ever said to him influenced him in the slightest.. if it had Boston cab owners would not be charging $100+ a shift for non hybrid taxis.
For the record if you are interested I personally feel that what hackney did in shutting your business (Town Taxi) down considering they left Tunnel tax free to operate doing exactly what you were accused of doing to be a disgustingly un American abuse of power.
I had recently come to the conclusion as you seemed to long ago that Hackney’s constant tweeking of the rules had made the business in the city unsustainable and unprofitable for a Boston Cab shift driver like myself. As I mentioned to you previously I came to this conclusion partly because of the comments you made on the WBUR website.
To be blatantly honest I think the business model you are now pursuing is the future of the transportation business in Boston and had hoped to team up with you to pursue that goal, which is why I made not one but 2 long trips to your office at Town Taxi via public transportation spent money I did not have to spare on a driving record and called/emailed you several times.
I understand and respect your decision but I must tell you I find your reasoning at the best to be insane. Do you think I am some kind of spy sent by John Ford and Mark Cohen to ruin your business at Town Taxi from the inside?
Mr. Tafreshi I am just a man like you..screwed by hackney and several other people I have come into contact with in this business trying to make a living to support my family. Nothing else. Nothing more.
I would thank you but I can’t help but feel that you have cheated me out of time
Michael J. Carter
Mr Tafreshi the Town Taxi Boston owner wrote back once more.
>Thank you for the responses. I fully understant the time and money you
had invested per our instructions. Also, since the driving record was not
a negative factor, I will respectfully refund the expenses including
commute. I will continue to discuss this with my crew and we’ll be in
touch. I envoy your commitment to the industry which seemed to be
mutually loved and speaking for drivers. Regards, D~
This last communication from Mr. Tafreshi the owner of Town Taxi Boston was dated March 12th and I have yet to hear back from Mr. Tafreshi in regards to any possibility of employment with him or compensation for the time and money I spent pursuing employment at Town Taxi. I figured it was the slimmest possibility but I was taking him at his word. So much for Town Taxi Boston
